Mid-Carolina IPMS Swamp Foxes Modeler’s Club - Copyright © 2011, All Rights Reserved This has led to a close friendship between the two clubs and their members.  Many members in each club hold dual  memberships in the other chapter.  The Sumter IPMS chapter started out by assisting our club at our next to last show  on Bluff Rd. Armory in 1993.  This show was tremendously successful and had 583 models entered.  The next year they  became full partners in our joint contest.  It was after this show that those two clubs who did most fo the work on the  show decided to put on a show every two years.  This collaboration has proven to be the most successful and the track  record of the contests as improved each year.  Hard work and sound planning by both clubs have shown just how good  two clubs working together can be.   The 2001 show was a big success a reflects the success shared between the two  clubs.  The Swamp Foxes club continued to move around trying to find a permanent location to meet.  Meetings were conducted  back at the Richland County Public Library, the old Irmo Recreation Center, the West Columbia Leisure Center, and even  at Heroes and Dragons.  Finally, the club settled at the HobbyTown USA in the Harbison Shopping Center.  The club  continued to meet there until moving to its most recent location, the Lexington County Public Library, at 5440 Augusta  Rd., Lexington, SC.  Meetings have been scheduled for every 3rd Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00PM.  This club meeting  location has managed to remain intact for several years now, thus ending the nomadic nature of the meetings.    In 1999 the club suffered a setback  with the tragic passing of Monty Tuck, one of our founding members.  Monty passed away at 38 years of age.  Monty had held every office in the club at one time or another and since 1993  had been the club’s contest chairman.  Often doing most of the contest organizational legwork himself.  His dedication to  the club was unquestionable.  It was not until he was gone that we relaized just how much he did and how much work  went into the details of a contest.  It was decided that the Best in Show award for all future club contests would be  named after Monty and Keith Frape was kind enough to sponsor this trophy.  The club has undergone numerous  membership changes including of course officers of the club.  The current officers are:  Hub Plott, President; Steve  Iassicon, Vice President; and Randy King, Treasurer.  Club finances were moved from a cash box (carried around) to a  bank and checking account. The club boasts high membership participation in the National Chapter IPMS. Mid-Carolina  IPMS was moved from a Region 3 charter to Region 12 charter in recent years.  Region 12, the Central Atlantic Region is  comprised of SC and NC.  The club developed its own first web site.
